How to measure wrist circumference
Step 1: Getting your wrist size
First off, grab a flexible measuring tape and wrap it around your wrist, just below the wrist bone. This is where your bracelet will ideally sit. No tape measure? No problem! Use a string or a strip of paper instead, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length against a ruler.
- Cut a paper strip of about 25 cm (~10 inches), as thin as possible
- Fold the paper around the wrist
- Mark the paper where it overlaps (see red line in image above)
- Measure the length of the paper up until the mark + 1 cm is your size. See step 2 if you prefer a different fit
Step 2: Deciding on the fit
Bracelets should fit your style and comfort. Here’s how you can choose yours:
- Snug fit: Add 1cm (1/4 to 1/2 inch) to your wrist size for a fit that’s tight but not constricting
- Comfort fit: Prefer a bit more room? Add 2 – 2.5cm (3/4 to 1 inch)
- Loose fit: For a relaxed and easy feel, add 3cm (1 1/4 inches)
Step 3: Understand different bracelet types
The bracelet type influences how it should fit:
- Bangles: Typically worn loose. Ensure you can fit at least two fingers under the bangle.
- Cuffs: These should be snugger but with enough room to slip on and off without trouble.
- Chain bracelets: The fit might vary depending on the link size; consider if you like it moving freely or more fitted.
Step 4: Adjust for beads and charms
Bracelets with larger beads or charms might fit tighter. Allow a little extra room to ensure comfort without compromising on style.
Step 5: Look for adjustable features
Many modern bracelets come with adjustments like links, toggles, or elastic bands, offering versatility in sizing.
Step 6: Utilize sizing charts
Always check our sizing chart above, they’re all unique designer pieces and as such have unique sizing standards.
Step 7: Consider the material
The material of the bracelet can affect the fit. For instance, leather might stretch over time, whereas metals will hold their shape.
By understanding these key aspects, you’re on your way to selecting a bracelet that fits perfectly and enhances your personal style. Remember, the right bracelet not only looks great but feels great too!
